Federal Advocacy updates
Good news: the DPI has received half of its IMLS funding, with the rest to be made available if funds are available at the discretion of IMLS. This is not how things usually work, but good news in the short run.
From Ben Miller (Director of Library Services, Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction): “I want to personally thank the library community for sharing your stories, working with elected officials, and remaining steadfast in the incredible services you provide every day. You are the reason we do what we do. Keep being loud and proud about the meaningful work happening in your libraries and communities. Together we can do great things! “ (IFLS staff couldn’t agree more.)
Did you notice?
The Speak Up For Libraries campaign is right on the homepage of Libby! That gets the message right in front of some of our most enthusiastic library fans! Thanks to Sara Gold at WiLS, the WPLC board, and the Marketing Cohort for making that happen! It’ll be up until at least August.
New on the Speak Up For Libraries toolkit:
- Get the week’s social media post in your inbox!
- A printable pdf for hold shelf inserts.
- In the news: Judge temporarily blocks Trump administration from dismantling library services agency. (This is updated as needed.)
- This week’s post amplifies the ALA message and campaign.
Here’s what St. Croix Falls has up in their lobby. Are you doing anything like this at your library?
